A mobile phone is a primer needed in this era. It is very advanced and has many features. Therefore, mobile phones are not only used to communicate with other people but also used to learn, play a game, take good pictures, record videos, and other stuff.

 

Teachers take advantage of this situation by integrating mobile phones into teaching in an English classroom. The summary below is an article discussing the effect of using a mobile phone in an English classroom.

            A.    Summary of the content

This research explores the possibilities of using mobile technology in the teaching and learning of the English language. The participants are fifty (50) Sandwich students in the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who also teach English in different secondary schools across the country. The study adopts descriptive survey designs: a representative sample of papers and questionnaires.

The result of the study is a majority of the respondents are in agreement that mobile phone note feature aids the teaching and learning of language contents. What features that we can do are note feature, text messages, camera, voice and video recorder, internet, and mobile dictionary. It helps the students for preparing the future such as eliminating technophobia, up-to-date learning, an alternative to textbooks, and learning goes outside of the classroom.


B.     Discussion

The journal is discussing the use of mobile phones in class. It presents the features that we can use, the benefits, and also the challenge of using a mobile phone. Based on the result of the study, using mobile phones helps the students to learn in the class. It can enhance the students’ being active. They can learn individually, collaborate with others, and increase their curiosity. The journal presents the data of the study and gives a clear explanation. Although the journal has some limitations, the author tells what to do to complete the research.
